The Truth About Love Vol. 1 by Anna Bloom

Eve Harris has always had a point to prove: where you come from doesn’t matter, it’s what you aim for that counts. She has it all planned; find the perfect teaching job, live with her best friend, Cherry, and never get dragged back into the destructive world of her youth.

The last thing she expects is to bump into millionaire heir Cameron Wallis on her last day on campus. Nor is she expecting to discover that when she gives him a chance to win her over he’s nothing like the playboy the newspapers paint him to be.

Will Eve be able to let go of her judgements and embrace a spontaneous affair with Cam that isn’t part of her plan? Or will the constraints from both their families prevent Cam and Eve from discovering The Truth About Love?

The Truth About Love Vol.I is the first novella in a serial About finding love even when you’re least expecting it.

This charming little novella kind of landed in my lap by surprise. I’m actually a fan of serials and novella series, so when I was provided a copy for an honest review, I was excited about it. The blurb sounds exactly like my kind of thing. Rich man? Check. Girl with a troubled past? Double Check. I’m so glad I got the chance to find this author and read The Truth About Love because I loved it.

The story follows Eve who is freshly graduated from college and about to embark on the arduous task of becoming a full fledged adult and finding a real job. Eve is a little jaded and at times, a lot judgemental. The author showed Eve’s maturity even with her having a judgmental side. I never felt like her character was unnecessarily mean or judgy. The glimpses into her personality that we received in this first installment have me excited for the future of Eve’s character.

While Eve is studying for her last final she catches the eye of billionaire heir Cameron. He has been splashed all over the society pages for years and has quite the reputation for being a playboy. I loved him! He is the epitome of don’t believe everything you hear. His character was so kind, fun, sexy and out of character for a “rich boy.” He is definitely one of my new book boyfriends.

Overall the story flowed well and the characters impressed me. Ms. Bloom has a very polished and easy to read writing style. I also enjoyed how British the story is. I feel like a lot of the times author waterdown their British terms and slang for us poor Americans, but she definitely didn’t. I really appreciated it and it gave the characters authenticity. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next installment of this serial and learn more about Eve’s best friends Cherry. I would definitely recommend this one for a nice escape into a romance novella.

Review – Managed (Idol #2) by Kristen Callihan

First let me start by saying, I’m a Kristen Callihan fan. I’ve read a few of her books this year and loved them all. Managed was no exception. There is something incredibly satisfying about seeing a strong, powerful, intensely self-contained man crumble. Oh, how I love to watch the mighty fall. That’s probably why I love suit romance books so much.

Gabriel “Scottie” Scott keeps the world at arms length, even his best friends, who are also his chosen family. He is stern and all business all the time, until Sophie ends up as his seatmate on an international flight. Sophie is vivacious, witty and extremely hard to ignore. Her charisma and charm lure Gabriel in from takeoff.

The banter in this book is some of the best ever. It’s fun, clever and hilarious. I spent most of this book with a smile on my face. I loved watching the connection grow between Sophie and Gabriel. It was a slow burn romance, which was exactly perfect for these two. It was in the little, relationship building details that the author’s talent really shined through.

The members of Kill John, the band Gabriel manages, were amazing, just as before in Idol. I’m glad we got to know them a little better in this installment. I cannot WAIT for Jax’s book. I love him and call dibs. I will be pre-ordering book 3 as soon as there’s a link. I love this group of characters and look forward to reading each of their love stories.
