I picked this book up for free on Amazon and just kind of found myself reading it. I wasn’t even sure what I was getting myself into. It was a pleasant surprise, to say the least, that I liked this book so much. The story was witty, entertaining and amusing.

The story begins with our poor heroine caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. Delaney finds herself on the lamb after witnessing her boss murder someone. She has no place to go and is running out of time. This is when she discovers a mail order bride business. She decides to steal another woman’s file and take her place as the arranged potential mate of a man in Nocturne Falls. What she doesn’t realize is that Nocturne Falls is a place for the supernatural to hide in plain sight. It’s a town that is Halloween themed. Yes, you read that right. Halloween 24/7/365. What does this place not ACTUALLY exist!?! I would move there tomorrow! The author clearly put thought and care into creating the town, and I felt like it was a real place she was describing.

Once she meets Hugh, a 400 year old vampire, sparks begin to fly quickly. Hugh is your typical broody dead guy. I enjoyed his dry tone and over thinking self. The story takes a lot of twists and turns from this point, but never descends into nonsense. I was glad because it felt like it could at some points. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it if you are looking for something light, funny and easy to read.

I will definitely check out the rest of the series. I have been eyeballing book 2 since finishing this. There is a spin-off series also. I just picked up book one of that series.

Pick up a copy from Amazon (free at time of post) and let the fun begin! – The Vampire’s Mail Order Bride (Nocturne Falls Book 1)
